EMG Kansas 70.3 Clinic - FREE PDF Print E-mail

Kansas 70.3 09Do you want expert guidance, knowledge and service for your race this year?  Do you want to learn the “ins” and “outs” of how to not only finish the race, but finish the race with a new PR?  If so, the EMG IM Kansas 70.3 Clinic is for you!

Endurance Management Group (EMG), the official coaching service for IM Kansas 70.3 and IM Branson 70.3 races, is hosting a FREE clinic for all athletes on April 17th.  Whether this is your first triathlon and you are just trying to complete the race or you are an elite age-grouper, eyeing that elusive Clearwater spot, this is your clinic!  EMG will teach you vital strategies and tips that will pave the road to a successful race.

Below is an outline to our clinic.  You can stay for some or all of the day.  Please bring all necessary equipment for each segment and come ready for the unexpected (flat tires, dropped water bottles, rain, heat, wind, etc).  Also be prepared for unparalleled service and expertise--combined, we have raced this course 7 times.  If you add that to our 30+ years of racing experience and deep-rooted coaching knowledge, you know we have the tools necessary to help you succeed.  But don't take our word for it; come and experience our EMG culture yourself.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Clinic outline:

7:45 Arrive promptly at T2 and sign the waiver.  Clinton lake will be charging to utilize the campground, so bring some cash to get into the campground (usually around $7:00)!  To get to swim start, turn into Clinton Lake via 1415 North.  PARK AT T2 and sign the waiver.  We will ride down to T1 as a group by following 1415 past the campgrounds.  T1 is the parking lot on the left and can be seen by following the
run course map (click here).  Look for the EMG canopy. Again, PLEASE PARK AT T2.

8:00 Swim Discussion begins.  Here we will discuss the notorious nerve-racking open water swim start.  We will not be entering the water; rather, we will give you all the insight you will need on race day (e.g. staging, when to arrive at T1, which way the sun will be coming up, navigation tactics, etc).

8:15 Transition tips and secrets.  We will give you the tips to turn your transitions from minutes, to seconds.

8:30 Transition to the bike

8:30-11:30 Bike course preview and overview.

We will ride the entire bike course and head back to T2 from there.  There will be one aid station on the course located on the west side of the 458 and 1029 juncture, which will allow you to have 2 chances for water/fuel.  Please bring your own nutrition, tire-fixing and hydration supplies.

There will be two pace groups available on the course, where our coaches will talk about the ins and outs of the course.  The pace groups will ride at approximately 17-19 mph and 14-16 mph.  We encourage you to ride with one of the pace groups in order to receive the full benefit of the clinic. We will pull aid station at   Click here for the bike course map.

11:30 – 12:30  T2 tips/Run Course

When you return from the bike course, head into T2 (found on the
run course map click here).  From here you will receive instruction on the second transition and you will run the course.  Feel free to do as much of the course as you wish as the course is a series of out and backs.  There will be one aid station available at approximately mile 2 but please come with your own nutrition.

We will have a staff member at T2 ensuring that your bike does not run off without you.  Since you won’t be going back to T1, it is probably wise to leave all of your shoes, cars, extra at T2.

12:30 Clinic Ends

Please note: there will be two levels at this clinic: beginner to intermediate and advanced.  Please plan on staying with your respective group once you are on the bike.  We look forward to seeing you on April 17th! If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by
